Description

Billy's ideal home

Billy is a nine-year-old Collie cross Spaniel who is full of enthusiasm! True to his breed, he’s a very smart cookie and LOVES to use his brain. He’s hopeful to find an active family who could keep him busy with plenty of fun, reward-based training, as well as enriching walks in the countryside. While lots of fun to be around, Billy does have a sensitive side and can become easily overwhelmed or frustrated. Patient adopters, who could support him with his confidence and be help him with his big feelings, would be ideal. He is best suited to a calmer household, where the youngest family members are in their later teens, and he will need to be the only pet. Billy will benefit from gradual, positive socialisation with other dogs once he has settled into his new routine. While he is still building up his social skills, quieter walks would be preferred. Billy has allergies and is on a hypoallergenic diet. He still very much enjoys his grub but prefers to eat his meals without being disturbed.

Could you be Billy's perfect match?

Despite being a mature pooch, Billy has the energy and playful nature of a pup! He adores his toys and will bring them over to you, as an invitation to play. Tug is his favourite game, but his adopters should ensure they keep it gentle to protect his joints, as he does have arthritis. Billy prefers to interact with his favourite people while participating in activities, such as training, walks, and playtime, but may enjoy a gentle fuss on occasion once you’ve built up a bond with him. Formal types of handling, such as visiting the vets, can be very worrying for Billy, so he’ll need extra support from his family in this area. If you would like more information about adopting any of our dogs, or you are considering a variety of dogs and would like our team’s help to find your pawfect match, we would love you to visit us at our rehoming centre to chat with us in person. We are open between 12pm and 4pm every day, except for Wednesdays and Fridays when we are closed.

Springer Spaniel Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Springer Spaniel.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
